Like Family is an NDIS-approved marketplace that helps isolated Australians find non-medical care and companionship they can trust.
What industry challenge is Like Family tackling?
We are on a mission to reduce social isolation and loneliness while working towards creating more connected communities where all people are valued and cared for.

Our platform allows the ageing population or anyone with a disability, illness or injury to seek affordable, personalised and trustworthy support. On the other hand, it provides Social Carers with flexible, meaningful work that will contribute to their income while lending a helping hand to Australians that need it the most.
Our standout value proposition, however, is the fact our platform algorithmically matches our members to local social carers; providing companionship and care personalised to the members' hobbies, interests and goals. Like Family is unique in its industry as it makes social carers undergo a rigorous verification process that includes reference checks, police checks and in-person inductions for members' own safety and peace of mind.
What is the biggest risk to the company?
The health and safety of our members is of absolute importance; this is why we rigorously vet each and every Social Carer we bring onto the platform. Nobody can begin providing services until a police check is completed, 3 written character references are provided and an in-person induction is attended. Those who make the cut must then complete several training modules.
It’s equally important for our Social Carers and members to understand not only which services we provide as which services we are unable to provide. Like Family’s services are explicitly non-medical companionship care. We’re here to help you manage your laundry, take you to the park, help with your grocery shopping or teach you how to play guitar- and we’ll stick around for a cup of tea afterwards. We can’t help unclog your gutters, move your piano or provide specialist personal care such as showering, toileting, etc. There are other vendors insured to provide these services.
