Welcome to the next post in our series of Product Snapshots in the Australian healthtech sector.
Say hello to Maslow.
In one sentence, describe your product?
A voice-enabled rehab assistant for people with paralysis.
What industry challenge is Maslow tackling?
Every year 250,000 to 500,000 people suffer a spinal cord injury. They spend six to nine months in rehab hospital trying to learn everything they need to know about managing their condition. When they are discharged most of that info is forgotten and never put into practice.
60% of patients will readmit in the first year after discharge. 80% say they feel unsupported in the home, and for traumatic injury alone, the readmission and support costs are upwards of $10 billion per year in Australia alone.
What makes Maslow unique in the market?
Maslow enables the user to independently manage their care and rehab from where it matters most - at home.
Maslow bridges the accessibility gap for people with paralysis by leveraging home devices and voice technology to put the user back at the centre of their care and rehab.
What is the biggest risk to your company?
Maslow is a new and novel technology that pushes for truly patient-driven care and rehabilitation. Given the health ecosystem has traditionally been consultation and clinician-centric, the biggest risk to Maslow is slow adoption by the clinical ecosystem.
What does success look like for Maslow?
We believe that everyone deserves the tools to manage and improve their own wellbeing - regardless of ability. Our mission is to support people with paralysis everywhere, and to become the rehab and care management tool of choice globally.
Why should a customer use Maslow?
Retaining rehab and exercise guidance from multiple therapists, co-ordinating large teams of support workers, and knowing what to do about your health when you have acquired paralysis can be extremely challenging. The administration in involved in keeping everyone on the same page can consume large amounts of time, leaving little time to enjoy life.
Maslow makes it easier to access guided rehab exercises from your therapists, educate and co-ordinate carers in a single place, and communicate directly with therapists from home. This enables you to save time, money, and stay on track with managing your health.
Maslow lets you spend less time on the menial, and spend more time on what is meaningful.
